Make Performance-Driven Microlearning Work for Your Organization
February 6 & 7, 10 AM - 1:30 PM PT
Incorporating microlearning into an organization's learning ecosystem is not always as successful as L&D professionals envision, especially if the expectation is a change in performance. How can you set yourself up for success using microlearning as part of a performance-based initiative? A great first step is learning how to map alignment of microlearning to organizational goals rather than regarding microlearning as simply a training product.
In this workshop attendees will be encouraged toward a multifaceted view of microlearning as a concept for developing an individual’s aptitudes or skills; as a method for building or refining skills and behaviors over time by targeting facets of those skills or behaviors through repetition; and as a strategically designed campaign that typically includes multiple learning products to address those facets, ultimately driving improved performance related to organizational goals.
Throughout the day you will be introduced to the microlearning campaign strategy map template and its key sections. In small groups you will use the template to build the framework for one of several microlearning campaign strategies for a fictional company. We will review the purpose of each section of the map, along with key variables and factors that influence decisions related to that section.
Then, as L&D professionals for Bee Naturals, a health and beauty care company, each team will consider these common variables and make decisions to complete each section of the map. Variation among teams is expected, so teams will then share how they reached their decisions for completing the campaign strategy map. Working through this exercise will provide you with a way to see alternate views of how to treat a challenge while still learning a common process that is easy to use after you leave the workshop.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- To understand microlearning as a method, a campaign, and a product
- Six use cases for microlearning
- How to develop a measurable framework for a microlearning campaign and map a campaign to that framework
- How to create a design plan for a microlearning product
