AI & Learning Summit
Tuesday, October 22
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping the future of work and changing almost every industry, including learning and development.
At the AI & Learning Summit we will explore the emerging world of AI, including what it is, how it works, and most importantly, how it will transform what learning and development looks like in the future. You'll hear from leading experts who are applying artificial intelligence in their work, and learn specific ways AI will impact L&D in the coming years.
You don’t need to know anything about AI to attend. The day will start with a soup-to-nuts primer on the main concepts of artificial intelligence, so L&D and HR professionals of all skill levels can discover the potential and opportunities that AI brings to corporate learning.
Schedule
8:30a – 8:45a
Welcome and Introductions
Speaker: Hugh Seaton

Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Everyday Life
AI isn’t just impacting learning. It’s touching and changing almost every aspect of digital life. Understanding how artificial intelligence will impact our daily lives is key to understanding how we can leverage it for training and education.

10:00a – 10:15a
Morning Break
10:15a – 11:00a
AI in Practice: Semantic Analysis
Our first case study of artificial intelligence in practice looks at the power of semantic analysis. During this session, we’ll look at what semantic analysis is and discover how artificial intelligence is powering semantic analysis in L&D.
Speaker: Ben Betts
11:00a – 12:00p
The Reality of Practical AI
Artificial intelligence is a buzzword in L&D. It’s a label thrown at multiple tools and methodologies, often in contexts that overpromise the current accessibility of AI tools and technologies. In this session, we’ll look at what learning professionals can do with AI today and how we should be preparing for what AI will enable tomorrow.
Speaker: JD Dillon
12:00p – 1:00p
Lunch
1:00p – 2:00p
Chatbots and Natural Language
One of the current applications of artificial intelligence that has already emerged is the use of chatbots. As digital consumers, we see them often in our daily life and we’re increasingly seeing them explored in the context of L&D. In this session, we’ll examine what chatbots can do and explore the role natural language processing plays in powering chatbot experiences.
Speaker: Hugh Seaton
2:00p – 2:30p
AI in Practice: Using Voice for Learning
In this case study, we’ll look at how artificial intelligence enables people to interact with technology using their voices, and discover how that functionality works especially well in the context of virtual reality experiences.
Speaker: Hugh Seaton
2:30p – 2:45p
Afternoon Break
2:45p – 3:15p
AI in Practice: Smart Content
In this case study, we'll dive into the meaning of 'smart content' and share an example of how smart content uses A.I. to drive learner performance.
Speaker: Trip Gould
3:15p – 4:00p
Recommendation Systems and Personalized Learning
Personalized learning is a phrase that has been used in L&D for many years. Artificial intelligence will power the future of personalized learning but there are definitive gaps between the vision and promise of personalized learning, and what today’s technologies can deliver. We will look at what we can do today, what we expect to do in the near future, and the role recommendation systems play in that transition.
Speaker: JD Dillon
4:00p – 4:30p
Closing Panel: Taking Your Next Steps with Artificial Intelligence & Learning
To close our day, we’ve invited all of the day’s speakers back for an informal panel discussion examining how to put AI into practice. This is your chance to pick the brains of leaders in the world of AI & learning. Whether you are looking to take your first step, or the next step in your AI learning journey, you’ll find the answers you need to put today’s learning into action.
